Turn 26: August 30, Morning (Allied morale 6, French morale 5) Weather = Clear
(random event = “Conflicting Orders”. French player chooses Russian Cv as unable to move) Russian III moves east of Russian Cv as Prussian II moves into Glasshutte, and as Austrian Cu moves into the woods to their north (surrounding YG with ZOCs). 1Lt moves towards Reinhurtsgrimma, G+R moves into the woods to their north-west and Austrian IV corps movs through Karsdorf.
Russian II cavalry attacks both I and VI, but are broken outright in doing so (-1 Allied morale, +1 French morale), with VI advancing after combat. Prussian II corps and Austrian Cu combine to attack YG, forcing the defenders to withdraw. This is a hazardous retreat, which they fail and so break instead (+1 Allied morale, -1 French morale), with Cu advancing after combat.
(random event = “According to Plan”. Cards reshuffled) VI and I both move south to engage Austrian IV and G+R respectively, while I cavalry heads towards the Pirna pontoon bridge, and as Cv drops back into Bahratal.
I attacks G+R, routing the defenders 3 hexes (roll of 5, -2 for elite status)(-1 Allied morale) and advancing after combat. VI attacks Austrian IV corps, but are themselves forced to withdraw, with IV advancing after combat into the woods.

Turn 27: August 30, Mid-day (Allied morale 5, French morale 5) Weather = Clear
(random event = “March to the Guns”. No enemy in range of the increased MA) 1Lt moves up into Reinhurtsgrimma as Russian Cv, III, Prussian II and Austrian Cu all head towards that location.
Austrian IV corps attacks VI, forcing the defenders to withdraw but opting not to advance.
(random event = “Imperial Dispatches”. Associated roll = no effect) I cavalry moves through Zehista as Cv heads towards Berggieshuble, and I and VI both move to engage Austrian IV corps.
I and IV then combine to attack Austrian IV, routing the defenders 5 hexes (-1 Allied morale), with VI advancing after combat.
situation at end of turn 27
Turn 28: August 30, Afternoon (Allied morale 4, French morale 5) Weather = Clear
(random event = “Muddy Roads clogged with Broken Wagons”. Mud marker placed on mountain road outside Lauenstein) 1Lt moves into Maxen, with G+R moving to the rough ground to their own south-east, Russian II corps to that to their north-east, Austrian Cu towards Zehista, and Prussian II corps and Russian Cv both moving towards Dippoldiswalde.
With no enemy reaction or combat phase, Allies are again able to claim this as a ‘lull’ turn (+1 Allied morale)
(random event = “Avec Moi, Mes Amis!” May commit reserves to one battle without paying the cost) Cv heads towards Zehista as I cavalry falls back to Dohna. I moves to engage G+R outside Karsdorf, with VI moving into Karsdorf itself.
I commits reserves (for free) against G+R, only remaining engaged against them.
situation at end of turn 28
Turn 29: August 30, Evening (Allied morale 5, French morale 5) Weather = Clear
(random event = “Confusion and Chaos”. All units have -1 Movement Allowance) Austrian IV moves to engage I, with Cv just behind them on the same road, and 1Lt moving cross-country towards Karsdorf. Austrian Cu cavalry moves into Zehista, with Prussian II and Russian III corps both moving up along the same road.
Austrian IV and G+R combine against I, who commit their reserves (-1 French morale) but are still forced to withdraw, with no attacker opting to advance after combat.
(random event = “Absence of Master’s Guiding Hand”. Allied player chooses I cavalry as unable to move, and the French player may also not spend morale points this turn) VI moves south to engage Austrian IV as I moves north of G+R, and as Cv moves into Pirna.
I attacks G+R, but are forced to withdraw north, with G+R again remaining stationary. VI attacks Austrian IV, but are routed 2 hexes north, with IV advancing after combat.
situation at end of turn 29
Turn 30: August 30, Night (Allied morale 5, French morale 4) Weather = Clear
(random event = “Command Indecision”. May not spend morale points this turn) 1Lt moves into the rough ground to their north-west as G+R, Austrian IV and Russian Cv all move north. Prussian II heads towards Dohna, with Russian III corps heading to Zehista.
That night, both the Russian I and II corps remain broken, but II cavalry is eliminated for good, before the Allies gain 2 morale points from rest (+2 Allied morale)
(random event = “Intelligence Gathering”. No effect as not using Fog of War) VI moves into the woods to their south-west as I moves to those to their north, and that’s it for movement!
II rallies in the LOC outside Dresden while YG remains broken, and the French forces then regain a single morale point from rest (+1 French morale)

Interesting. The Allied retreat has turned into a counter-attack and they're on the verge of putting Dresden under threat again. Haven't seen that happen before...

This is a fascinating series. It looked like the Allies were really on the ropes for a long time, and now the momentum seems to have switched!

Yeah!! Played it several times and never came up with this kind of situation...
Perhaps the very first French intention to move troops (like OG) towards the Pirna pontoon bridge, then even further out towards Lilienstein was the reason ??

I had originally hoped for those units to hit the Allied right flank, but the Allies called a 'General Retreat' before they were properly in position to do so.
Once that retreat was called, I then intended to exit a couple of French units off after the Austrians to Freiberg and Komatau earlier in the campaign (about day four, I think), but "Bad News and Spoiled Rabbit" pretty much put paid to that plan!

I love that event! In one little card it manages to sum up all the confused dispatches, faulty intel, and mistakes of the historical campaign.
