FYI "corn" refers to grain in general, not the corn (maize) grown in Indiana as the later is a new world crop and not known to the ancient Egyptions(sp?).

That's what I was thinking (corn being a new world crop), but I didn't dig deep enough to figure that out.
Of course, being from Indiana, we want to see corn everywhere, I suppose...

in Britain, you sometimes still hear the term "corn" used in the "some sort of grain" context - they use "sweetcorn" to differentiate.
