In Indianapolis? Look up TJ. She's a fun, fun person, has attended Buckeye Game Fest, and has started something up there. If you're willing to geekmail me your email address, I can pass it along to her, Shane.

It's what several passersby mused, anyway, Bill.

Take small parts of Agricola, Carcassonne, Homesteaders, Valdora, and some innovative elements, mix them together into an eight-year game, with ¾ of the seasons being playable simultaneously, and you have a challenging, lateral-thinking, fun game that plays pretty darn quickly — and plays 1–4 players!

January 27th CABs Meeting
Academy Games was on site. I was able to play War of 1812 and they were kind enough to donate the game to the library.

We had a blast. It's an area control with some dice rolling, light strategic elements and hopefully lots of smack talking!

More about the game can be found here: http://academy-games.com/games/birth-of-america/1812-the-inv...

If you were guesstimating, what time would you guess the board meeting will be over and games can commence? Have a friend that wants to check it out tomorrow.

Thanks!

Games can commence during the board meeting, so you won't have to wait. Finding other gamers early can be a issue on Saturday mornings though. Usually a good crowd by noon.

All depends on the weather because we have some board members traveling long-distance.

CABS officially opens at 10am (same time as the board meeting). I imagine there will be people playing games in the room as the board meets. If you want to be safe (and have a board member "greet" them, show them around), then tell your friend to come after lunch.

EDIT: Beaten by Kayati! curses!

Thanks for the info. We both have smaller kids, and it will be my son's first time there, so I want to be conscious of the volume issue (not that he'll be running around crazylike, but I practically squealed at all the game choices... so I can't imagine his reaction ).

Have to think about it a bit...

Early Saturday is the best time then. Only about a dozen on site until the afternoon.

Friday evenings are usually the busiest times in terms of attendance.

He would only ever come on Saturdays because of age, bedtime, and our location (Delaware). I just swing by on the way home from work on the Friday sessions.

Think we'll give 10am a try tomorrow to let the shock and awe wear off before the meeting hopefully gets too far in.

Games can commence as soon as the doors are open at 10:00; however, don't expect any board members to be able to play with you until noon at the earliest, guessing from the agenda. We've got to nail down these things so our meetings can be shorter.

No worries. Also may be limited to driving down if the weather is as bad as I've heard it might be.

Then again, I didn't know there was a board, or who was on it until I just looked, and I couldn't point most of you out in a lineup, so it could be educational

Typical Saturday at CABS: slow in the morning, with a steady rise in attendance until evening. I got to play a new abstract thanks to Keith Bednarczuk. It's called Chain Lightning. Very cool. If you have a GO board, you have the game!
