Wow, just one Bear Rider unit? That sucks. I was also hopeing we could get some more Cattle Riders. To bad we can't see the text on the specialist cards, I would love to know what they say. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to playing this.

According to what the description says, I'd say one is more than enough. First of all, I think it's the first BL cavalry unit with four figures in it. And if that's not enough, you get infinite bonus hit rerolls. Two of these on the battlefield, and you'd have the enemy army crap their little plastic pants.

The bear riders are very powerful - a unit to be feared.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the arbelesters though. In the base game, they were crossbows (and had a banner to match). Does this now change that the same sculpt is used for arbelesters in this expansion? Do we get a replacement banner for the base set crossbowmen?

Just a few questions I have.

Please FFG, keep getting these expansions out there though - long live Battlelore!

Cheers,
Ben.

Yes, they do seem powerful. I was thinking(wanting) two sets of Bear Riders though so each side could feild one at the same time. However, when it comes to power, I still feel that these guys are no where near the level that the Mounted Knights are. Ignoring two bonuses and 1 flag from foot units is just crazy. They are almost unfair. I can't wait to try out the new Bolt Throwers.

Anybody know if one camp will be getting cerain flags, and the other camp not? Kind of like HH did with the green banner Halbrieders.

The rules state: "This pack comes with enough banners to field the Dwarven troops for the Standard camp."

Sorry, Pennant players.

Great! Now we will be fighting over the Standard camp.

The rules got bungled on the bear riders - the correction will soon be made clarifying that there are two units of two figures included in Bearded Brave

Jesting aside, I will be keeping watch on the Bear Riders and Arbalestiers in action, with the above change in mind* along with reverting to the "old" Arbalestier rules.

It may seem subtle, but allowing the embedded spotter to stick around to the bitter end, as opposed to be gone after the third hit (not to mention fitting 5 figures on a hex ) will have a rather large impact on the arbalestiers' performance on the board.

*and I'm sure it would've been mentioned in the rule book if it were the case, but perhaps the Bear Riders count as two banners...that would also provide some balance (not necessary balance, mind you) with respect to the other units.

You sure? It states in the rule book that they have gathered together to form a large unit (four figures). That doesn't sound like a typo, or just a mistake that was missed in proof reading. It sounds more like its meant to be that way.

Where did you hear from that the rules got bungled anyways?

Yeah, with Bear Cavalry, you're pretty much toast.

You need to have your sarcasm detector checked.

In case you missed it, he followed up with a "Jesting aside..." comment.

As much as it was jesting... those Bears are going to be uber-powerful. I'm thinking two units of two might have been more balanced, but anyway.

Hopefully this hits our shores soon.

Cheers,
Ben.

I don't know how unbalanced they will be. The bigger they are the more the enemy will target them. They seem a prime target for Lore and Ranged weapons. We also don't know how quick they are.

They will certainly be a unit to be feared though! I am looking forward to getting them, and the Bolt Throwers, on the table!

Cheers,

Giles.
