I am pondering about, whether crossing the line was intentional and what it means in this context ...
Arthouse movie = intentional; Hollywood movie = flub.
I think this is arthouse and intended to convey the angst of the AP player and his internal struggle juxtaposed with the externalised rage of the other players. Wow. Talk about emotional impact. Be thankful they're not playing real-time Dominant Species because there are no intermissions...
I would have AP if I had my Kingdom Builder board in front of me and then were expected to play Mage Knight. Or perhaps not AP, but rather "what the heck am I supposed to play?" paralysis.
Looks like Joe need to learn some tricks of the trade. My favorite is hiring a Mariachi Band that will break into La Cucaracha every time a player takes longer than 3 minutes....works every time.

Checked that one out and it looks similar, but I also checked the Trajan forum and have the evidence that it is Trajan - definitely a high potential for AP game.
It is missing one AP gesture.. the one that is most favourite in our gaming group:
AP player is carefully analyzing his hand of cards.. hummung and hawing.. time goes by... eyebrows lowered in concentration.. time goes by.. pupils wandering from the leftmost to the rightmost card.. and back again.. time goes by.. Then, suddenly, a burst of movement.. AP player is leaning towards the table.. chooses one card.. draws it out of his hand and... and...
puts it back in another space of his hand and leans back again.
