Welcome to BSG PBF Variation 17 - God Did It

This will be a 7-player Pegasus+Exodus+Opera House+Faith game going Kobol!

This game is invite-only, using the Variant Waiting List (and some good friends of mine)!

d10-1 Ripshawd
d10-2 Valen200
d10-3 markino
d10-4 coriolis inkwizita
d10-5 Captain Crumpet
d10-6 schmloof
d10-7 oriecat

Basic rules

d10-1 The game will be 7 player, NO CL, (No sympathizer), loyalty deck will be built by Exodus rules, with 3 YAAC, 2-5 Final Five and 7-10 YANAC (No personal goals).
If at the end of the game the final card in the loyalty deck is a Cylon, the fleet will lose 1 of every resource.

d10-2 Pegasus damage-sponge effect rule:
Quote:
The destruction of Pegasus will carry a penalty of -1 population

d10-3 Any treachery discarded by human players from their hands will be shuffled into the Destiny deck.

d10-4 Public COs are strictly forbidden, and so are “CO sent” announcements.
All COs are strictly confidential in geekmail between you and me. Bolding actions when it's not your go is also forbidden (since they're public COs by another name). In the real game, you are never publicly bound to actions as you are with COs, so they should stay private. This is to protect an unrevealed Cylon’s right to lie, and to decrease the certainty of future events (and hence maintain paranoia).

d10-5 Do not quote or link to other posts that happened a page or more ago, but use your own words to describe what you think happened. Funny posts with lots of in-character images are greatly encouraged.

d10-6 For interrupt COs, I will wait till everybody who hasn't sent in a CO has played or passed, before adding in your COs. This gives you time to check in and revise your CO if needed, and allows me to pass late checkers who did not send in a CO but don't have the card, without giving away the information that they don't have the card. When I say "rest passes" or "passes by CO" I in no way confirm that anyone has or doesn't have an active CO for that situation. I may pass (and pretend you had a CO) if your intent is obvious, or wait for you even if you had a CO because the situation warrants it.

d10-7 Secrecy Rule Change:
Quote:
When discussing your contribution to a skill check (before you actually you put it in), you can only say a lot / medium / a little. And medium can only be used if you're playing in more than 1 card. Nothing more. Not # of cards. The # of cards is only published when you actually play the cards in.
Skill cards with specific effects (Red Tape, Iron Will, Higher Power, etc) can be alluded to before playing skill cards. They cannot be named or be confirmed to be in the check.
Failure to adhere to secrecy rules will result in harsh penalties.

Every accepting player must agree to check in at least twice daily (unless giving notification ahead of time)
The fine print. Read if this is your first BSG PBF game. Skim if it isn’t.
Post typography
* Normal text for discussions, etc
* Italics for flavour text/fluff - love reading it, keeps the game fun and interesting.
* Bold for in-game moves and actions. I won't process any decisions/actions unless bolded in the thread.

Images
Avatars change, images don't. Images can be found here. Please use an image or banner for all of your posts (especially in-character).

Players
- Rules & Regulations for the PBF games apply.
- To make things easier on myself, I will refer to all players by your character name and noun.
- For game speed, CO’s are a great way to keep things moving along.
- I will not wait for you to use your OncePerGame unless you say so, and if you’re going to interrupt in favor of the Cylons then please leave a CO beforehand, since I’m not going to check specifically for this every time there’s an attack.

Can we use selwyth's Tory? (Can play a CP whenever a Quorum card is played)
And can we use the Apollo nerf where AVP can't be used to get out of Sickbay?
And can we make Longshot able to be used on any turn?
And why not make Accept Prophecy affect the Airlock as well?

Other than that, looks really good! (Apart from Seelix looking, well, not really fun to play.)

I prefer this one, but if the consensus is that that one's better, I'm okay with that too...
Quote:

That's a new one for me. Kinda make sense though.
Quote:

Anders already got a boost, and Longshot is a very powerful OPG anyway. I have to think about it.
Quote:

Because I've never used that card and forgot that it existed Will do.

I'm really eager to try her out to see if she works. I just didn't get the chance yet.

Yeah, but you turned cylon first second. I got feedback that a 3 card human is pretty useless, and besides this is a nice way to bring in Faith.

Pending clarification from the mod. Also, any suggestions for wording changes? It's currently kind of clunky...

Also, that player order in the first post is already randomized, correct?

Yes thank you, that'll be Hotdog. I had plans for Captain Kelley (Military) and Doc Cottle (Support) too, but I'm out of great ideas for now, so we'll just go with this bunch.

Yes, the player order is (as always) already randomized.

It's open selection, but I'd still rather see who Ripshawd (and you) pick first before I go. We have until Thursday or Friday, so no real hurry.

Well I recommend the FINAL picks to be semi-balanced, but no, I don't require that at any given time it must be balanced.

(And I can understand picking Anders for a Military Leader or Helo for a Pilot, etc)

And I'm willing to give out candy for trying Elosha, HotDog and Seelix

By the way, why is this a 7-player and not a 6-player game? Is it balanced 5v2? Does the Faith deck make it harder for the humans?

EDIT: I'm an idiot, but 3 Cylons? Won't that be imbalanced the other way?

No, it's balanced 4v3. Anticipating trouble?

EDIT: Don't forget, humans start with one additional card. If the majority thinks it's still too hard on humans, I'm open to +1 morale and or +1 population (don't forget, Pegasus destruction has a -1 pop penalty)

Poll
I know I'm thinking too late, but this should be a
4v3 with humans getting a boost (e.g. +1 morale, +1 pop)
4v3 no boost
5v2 cylons getting a boost (e.g. 3 skill cards per turn, -1 pop, etc)
4v2 regular nosymp (and ask someone to leave...)

Man, Hotdog does not thematically deserve any Leadership whatsoever, much less 2. Give him a Boomer skilldraw! So many characters and she's still the only character without XO potential. I'm sure she's feeling a bit lonely.

Neither does Seelix, actually.

Seelix only gets a half.

As for Hotdog?

Let's see:
Schizophrenic, fratenizing, crazy bitch who turns cylon => 0 leadership
Ace Pilot who doesn't follow orders, isn't really great at giving them either => 0.5 leadership
Stim junkie who is actually a drug runner, rather dies then admit failure => 1 leadership
Random raptor pilot chick who mutineers or something => 1 leadership
Fastest advancing nugget, twice passed over for CAGery yet humble, chicks love him, and oh yeah... Lead the assault on New Caprica AND on the Colony... That gets two leadership

Why not just make her draw 1 Piloting? Another Engineering would be fine too, I guess, since she's really dependent on the number of Repairs she has in hand to do anything useful. Her drawback is even more limiting than Roslin's and/or Zarek's, and that's saying something.

You can tell I don't like her, can you?

Keep Seelix the way she is. From a gameplay standpoint, not having Leadership is a significant drawback.

And, you're sure the turn order is random? I swear, some randomization software somewhere must really like the name Ripshawd, as I usually go first in PBF games.

I've narrowed my character choices down to Baltar, Ellen, or Helo. I'd consider Elosha if her drawback wasn't one fewer card. (I like having skill cards in my hand, and I think drawing Faith may already be enough of a drawback! =D )

Her OPT and OPG are well worth it

As for Seelix: I'm keeping her draw, and considering changing her disadvantage to "You may not launch yourself in a viper as long as there are any damaged vipers", because markino is right, this one is almost as bad as Zarek's

Personally, I'd like Baltar for this match, but not enough to demand it. If you guys want to take him ahead of me, go right ahead.

I like the new Seelix disadvantage. Plus, it gives me an excuse to make her card properly.
