It'll add a little more strategy to the decision making process of whether to paint a fresco with the bishop on it vs. one that might be worth more points that the bishop is not on.
There also makes sense to actually put all the Bishop Favor tiles on the board. Otherwise you might as well just draw from a pile since it's the same for purposes of randomness.
Definitely more strategic that way. If you want to keep the randomness "flavor" do the normal rules way, but if you want a more strategic game, go for it I say.
