Here's another episode from the Gathering of Friends 2005.
Derk and I interview Andrea Meyer who I believe is the 2nd woman who has been on the show. We talk about her game designs and producing and selling a game in Germany. We also cover the mysterious game designer's mailing list (SAZ). We also ask her the famous question: "What's it like to be a female game designer in a male dominated hobby?"
There's a little bit of talk about BGG.CON at the end of the episode.

I'm tempted to buy Pounce now! Those guys in the background sound like they're having so much fun.

I'm just curious how many marriage proposals from BGGers Andrea has already received after this show.

I enjoyed this GS or BGS as it is now abbreviated. It would be amusing to hear the version with all the little chiming noises made when Andrea winked.
It was interesting in the fact that she got into game design just by doing it. No big plan or negative "it is hard and nobody should try it" message. Just making games and finding her way. A very positive interview. Come to think of it Board gamers in general are pretty positive, there is very little of the "my competition sucks" attitude that you find in music or other arts.
When you say see you in november does that mean no more BGS for the rest of the summer/fall? Lame! Keep it coming! We need our fix.

Oh, and for some reason I prefer to use "you guys". "You all" sounds like it comes from a non-local dialect (to me), but then again I'm Canadian. The way I use it and hear it, "you guys" is always gender-neutral.
When addressing a group, you can also say "Dear Geeks," or something like that. Or "Hey people!".

I'd forgotten, too. . not the girlfriend, whose name is Cathy, but the fact that she was actually a part of that interview. Our 15 minutes of fame lives on. .

I just bought Pounce. Couldn't find one with the plunger. I figured any game that causes that kind of a ruckus has to be fun with my kids. I'm looking at getting Loopin Louie after the other BGS where everyone was going nuts in the background.

The version of Pounce at my local gaming store has a mouse or something, no plunger.

Did I just miss it, or is there no Ted Cheatam review in this episode? BGS just isn't the same without Ted. And whatever happened to Rick Thornquist doing Gone cardboard and other boardgame news? I know we read it, but I thought it was a nice addition to the broadcast.

Re: BoardGameSpeak - off topic question to Aldie and Derk
Don't know where to best post this, so I'll plonk it here all the same.
Question to you Aldie and Derk (or Derk and Aldi perhaps) about your boardgamespeak logo..
Do you think that this represents your best/notable feature? Derk's Goatee and Aldie...you're hair(?)
Is it also possible to request memorable gaming moments/quotes from the games you have played? I really liked how the name princess come about..boy, I could sure run through a list of nick names for the gamers here in Auckland..let's see ...
- the BC Police (just don't talk theme in game..alright)
- the Robert Markley Diplomacy Machine (you should see that in action, pure poetry!)
- Brother Greedy Dan, The F@#$IN' Aggressive Big Hand man! (that's right, he has big hands)
and more...

There are features of the logo you're missing.
1. Derk has no hair on the top of his head. This feature is just as outstanding as his goatee.
2. Aldie is shorter than Derk. This is also clear when meeting them.
3. Dirk's skin has a vaguely bluish tint, perhaps due to poor circulation. Aldie's skin has an orangish tint, perhaps due to using one of those nasty fake tanning products.
Two out of three of the above statements is true.
