Life is a Journey, Not a Destination

I am working on the Sampler Showcase games for this year. As we did last year, the Sampler Showcase will be on Tuesday, August 2nd. We will have four 2-hour sessions with two games sampled in each block from 0900-1700 in the Lancaster Showroom (aka the Open Gaming area).

Some of the factors considered in selecting games for the Sampler Showcase are:
• WBC Events (I try not to have games that already have an event)
• Game Ratings/Popularity/Awards
• Availability (general market and at WBC)
• Publisher Support to WBC (donations to open gaming library, vendor room booth, etc.)
• Availability and interest of qualified game mentors
• Suitability to timeframe/format
• Feedback from BPA members
• Suitability as a tournament game (more as a tie-breaker than anything else)

I currently have 16-games that I am considering for the sampler showcase. I will be looking for feedback over the next two weeks on games to consider and preferences so I can finalize the list and get them submitted for the publishing in the yearbook.

If anyone is skilled at teaching new games and is interested in being a Sampler Showcase Game Mentor, contact me offlist.

I would love to see:

One of the best reasons for going to WBC is to see games not played anywhere else!

I'd suggest Walnut Grove.

While Dungeon Petz is a great game, it's really only best for exactly 4 players. This is problematic for the sampler, where you have no idea how many will show up. While there are versions for two or three players, they have a bunch of little rules difference, so teaching both the 4-player and the 3-player at the same time to a bunch of players would be confusing. If in addition to whoever is teaching Dungeon Petz, you got a couple of additional volunteers willing to play either Dungeon Petz or something else depending on numbers, you could guarantee 4 players for all games.

Some of these would be tough to play in 2 hours, particularly with newbies.

It was my life, like all lives, mysterious and irrevocable and sacred. So very close, so very present, so very belonging to me. How wild it was to let it be.

I'd like to see Lancaster (I mean, we'll be in Lancaster in the Lancaster room, how do ya not? Plus, I'm genuinely interested in it) and 1812.

Looking forward to it, they are ALWAYS interesting presentations!
My only suggestions would be:
1. More samplers.
2. Some of them down in "Jay's cafe" (outside the vendor room)=accessible.
3. During "quiet times" throughout the week (is there such a thing?)

At least some on Saturday (for us not in finals).
