There is an old format for learning and fast playing Warhammer 40K

List of 400 pts
1 Troop choice required
0-1 HQ
Armor total not over 32
Maximun 2 wounds
No 2+ Armor Save

This should take 40 minutes or less than a hour.

Just a bit more detail...
0-1 HQ
0-1 Elite
1+ Troop
0-1 Fast
0-1 Heavy
Also, no named characters.
Vehicle armour total up to 33 when adding front side and rear;
p.e. Rhino would be OK with 32 (11+11+10)
Should be played on a 4x4 table or smaller.
Works fine with 500pts too.
Excellent format!

Was reading Adepticon 2011 rules and found "Transports" and "Troops" may have a maximum armor facing of 12. But, no Heavy Vehicles allowed. I would prefer this rule over the 32, 33 or 34 point total. Makes better sense to me as I could have the option for a Dreadknought if it is treated as a "Heavy Support Troop". Will toss my vote in with our gaming group.

Also see where no Psy abilities may be used if a Psy Test is Required. Hurts Grey Knights, but should make for a balanced 5E game.

Appreciate your posts and input guys!
Cheers!

its a good way for learning warhammer 40k!

also you could play the Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team format that is less points but highly tactic!
