Hi all,

I love the look of both Earth Reborn and Claustrophobia however the themes of demons and occultists doesn't go down well in my family.
Are there similar games to these that have family friendly themes ?
Thanks all.

I should qualify, family friendly is probably not the right wording. Most any other theme is fine.

Operation Squad: World War Two is one WWII game. I like MERCS - miniatures purchases are 5-6 figures per faction, with 5 on the field at once.

World War II: Barbarossa 1941

Been "enjoying" putting together the models for this one. It looks pretty unique and interesting. The follow-up game is going to be Samurai Battles.

Take a look at Sergeants Miniatures Game: Day of Days. It comes pre-painted so minimal set up time. They've also started doing some terrain Sergeants Miniatures Game: Hasty Positions Normandy Expansion and have one expansion Sergeants Miniatures Game: Road to Carentan and a bunch of squad/team/leader packs Sergeants Miniatures Game: Expansion Squads and Leaders out already.

Sergeants looked really interesting to me, then I started doing the math. It is very expensive.

There's also Dust Tactics which is an alternate WWII theme but there are a couple of off German units, namely a Zombie Squad and an enhanced Gorilla Squad but other than that pretty nice infantry and power armor squads. Use can also use the minis for their tabletop game Dust Warfare: Core Rulebook.

Well, if historicals are ok, then the sky's the limit.

My all time favorite is Ambush Alley or Force on Force. Easy to learn, easy to teach, and lots of fun.

There are others too numerous to mention...

If it helps to narrow things down, I enjoy the tile laying aspect of adding tiles for a different layout each time. Same as you see in Earth and Reborn and Claustrophobia, not to say though other systems are out, just haven't had much experience with them.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

Thanks for this, looking at these options makes me realise I am after the tile laying design rather than the tabletop army thing, ideally.
Anyone tried Gears of War: The Board Game ?

Not convinced the tabletop thing is for me, although Dust gets a lot of kudos. Is there a Dust tile laying game?

This looks interesting but availability looks difficult in Oz.

Hordes of the Things.

You can play almost anything, the investment is tiny to small and it is quite a bit of fun.

Both Dust Tactics and Sergeants Miniatures Game: Day of Days use tiles as their board setup. Each scenario has a tile layout for the battlefied if that's what you're asking about.

Thanks Gents, didn't realise they were tile layout/modular board games, the options are expanding.
