For various reasons, the historical politicians used with the old Kremlin (as Avalon Hill did it) needed to be changed.

Below will be the included politicians--as well as the current list of modern politicians.

Are there others who I've missed? If you could come up with six extra historical politicians AND six modern politicians in addition to these--who would you want included? Any thoughts to their strengths/weaknesses?

B - Khristian Rakovsky
C - Mikhail Kalinin
D - Anatoli Lunacharsky
E - Maxim Litvinov
F - Leon Tronsky
G - Joseph Stalin

T - Vyacheslav Molotov
U - Nikita Khruschev
V - Anastas Mikoyan
W - Nikolai Bulganin

Been reading up lately on the Soviet space program in the 60s. Several Cosmonauts went onto minor political careers after their days in the program ended. Nothing to the level of John Glenn in the US as their political accomplishments were minor but they might prove interesting additions.

Gherman Titov. In the group of the first Russian Cosmonauts and the second to fly into space on Vostok 2. Was elected to the State Duma in 1995 as a member of the communist party.

Pavel Popovich. Commanded Vostok 4 and Soyuz 14. Went onto serve in the Supreme Soviet in the Ukraine.

I like the idea of those. With modern Pols to add above the 26, it's difficult to find Pols that 'matter'. I raelized there's also Yuri Luzhkov, mayor of Moscow/political enemy of Putin.

It's a shame that you've felt it necessary to update all the politicians. I doubt many modern Russian leaders will have the level of recognition granted those of the early Soviet times or the later cold war.

What were the reasons for the change?

Bruce--you have a private message.

Also--the modern leaders are being included as a third set in addition to toe fictional politicians and the 1920s era politicians.

It won't add much to the end cost of the game and allows for some 'updating'. Each of the sets will have a primary set of rules.

Fictional: Will generally use the Fata Morgana rules
1920s: This will be similar to the Avalon Hill release
Modern: This will have additions to "simulate" modern Russian Politics (and I'm using simulate VERY loosely of course)

Here are a couple more fine examples of the soviet version of "human" beings to add to the mix:

Genrikh Yagoda
Semyon Budyonny

You seem to have most of the other biggies already listed.

Georg-I have Yagoda on the list but also have Yezhov...how many KGB murderers can you have ?

I'm stumped at the moment on modern politicians--I've got three others, but just can't figure out a good final three.

With the 1920s Pols, it'll be weeding the list down.

And for the fictional politicians, I need good names for them--but may save that as some sort of contest.

I'm glad to see you put "" around simulate. Part of the charm of Kremlin is that it's not supposed to be taken too seriously as some sort of simualtion. Adding modern names to give people some name recogmition and a few rules wrinkles is fine, but at its core this game's emphahsis is more on fun than history.

History is fun. For a lot of people it's a large part of the game's appeal just like the Lovecraft theme is a large part of the appeal for Arkham Horror and Mansions of Madness.

Oh--no worries there. There's really nothing better than a good run of five off to Siberia in the Purge phase...or trying to kill Stalin before he can get into the Politburo top ranks.

Why not do some additional sets for:
- North Korean politicians;
- Arab Spring political changes; and/or,
- Iranian politicians.

He was no true politician, but Vasili Blokhin did deal with them and earned praise for his "skill and organization in the effective carrying out of special tasks".
