I've been tracking results by seating position for The Princes of Florence at the World Boardgaming Championships for seven years now. See the following thread for a broader explanation:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/335250

These results include only 5-player games in which no bidding was used (and they thus exclude the semi-final and final games, where I do use bidding.)

With 13 5-player games added this year, there are now 102 5-player games in the database. The results look like this:

Number of Results
-----------------------
Seat 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Avg
---- --- --- --- --- --- ---
1 19 12 21 25 25 3.2
2 27 22 17 17 19 2.8
3 22 23 18 22 17 2.9
4 19 22 22 15 24 3.0
5 15 23 24 23 17 3.0

The differences among the various seating positions were much smaller than last year, and the all-year averages have generally moved toward the center. Based on these numbers alone, the worst seat is Seat 1, even though people tend to bid small amounts for it when we bid for seats.

Seat 5 had the most wins in 2012, with 5, and it also had the best average finish at 2.7. Seat 1 had the worst year, with 1 win, 6 4th-place finishes, and an average finish of 3.5.
