I have every intention of buying Agricola on iOS the moment it comes out, so obviously I want to make sure I get a microbadge too

Is anyone working on it yet? From Playdek's website, I'm guessing the icon will be this (given the other icons it shows):

Is there anyone who was involved in the beta who might be able to confirm? I'd like to make a start on this MB tonight if no one else already has it in hand.

You have a very interesting approach to game microbadges - it looks as if you're making designs 'inspired' by game aspects, rather than trying to be accurate reproductions.

They certainly make for clear badges - and people will be able to spot a Paul Davidson design at a glance.

Very intriguing.

Something else occurs to me, I spend far too long looking at code where ! means NOT, maybe you could do a flipped version with the exclamation first for "I have no idea" laugh

I agree, this one is clearer to me but a hint of red might work, even if it's just a hint in the darker tones.

I just spotted this in the pending queue and I saw that you've got in your admin. note section just a link to the Castle's website.

In that section you need a link to the exact place on this thread where you posted your microbadge - otherwise there's a fairly good chance it'll be rejected, as searching through the whole of this thread to see if you posted here would be a prohibitively onerous task for anyone!

It just doesn't meet todays standards anymore...

The gate in question isn't an actual physical gate but I still think it is a good way to depict it.
So I came up with these:

Any preferences?
- narrow vs wide gate
- skull with or without teeth
- letters or no letters

For me, the versions without teeth and without letters look much cleaner. Between the two that are left, I have a slight preference for the narrower gate as the stronger lines make the gate itself stand out more.

Thanks for the very nice comment!

As a graphic designer, I prefer clean, well-defined lines and images when possible. But working within a tiny grid of just 16 pixels per side is an enormous constraint, so my approach is to simplify some element of the game into a very basic icon.

vs the original I'd lighten the shadow a bit around the right corner of his mouth. Micro formats can emphasise or hide contrasts ... they can need a tweak. Easiest to adjust the original image before scaling.

OK, I’ll do some touch up on this when I get home this evening.
JoeX wrote:

I’d go a step further with that recommendation. I always scale images in steps tweaking along the way. Simply scaling in one step with or without touching up the image is very problematic.

You can get some nice/curious effects if you turn on the "normal" light while developing.

I think the ones without shadows maybe work better. If I had one suggestion it would be to see if you could get the glass part of the bulb looking a little bit smoother around the edges.
