Number of players?
Experience?
Underground or not?

With 5 expert players we liked "crops of power" much.
With 2 players adrift was not so good, but go east was better.

For first play I recommend Go East and Crops of power after it.
(I haven't played all of them yet)
(The team play scenario sounds very exciting for me.)

They say Go East is broken because of Flying and Halflings?

My group took Flying out of play when Relics and Places were introduced, and it's seemed like a better decision with each expansion, as things become more and more 'goal-oriented' (i.e.- Go East, The Iron Throne, etc.)

Halflings came up during our first game of Go East, and they didn't really hurt the game too much. It's definitely a great race for it, but by no means a guaranteed win.

I actually really liked the first scenario "My Precious World" or something like that, with 4 players. It does not give really obvious strategic points but there is a natural movement toward the center with enough space on the outlying regions as well. Go East is fun too. The only one I haven't really liked so far is the Life is Long River (something like that) one.

Our game of go east was ruined by Dragonmaster Elves. We never had sorcerors or vampiric come up, so they just conquered all the bonus territory every turn. Can't drop a big stack to defend when the dragon just eats them. The player who had Dragonmaster Elves never had to change races the entire game.

Crops of Power was a lot more fun. I want to try the Day and Night scenario next.
