Ok, I think I'm convinced, but which edition is the best. Is there a comparison between the different sets anywhere? The latest has the low price going for it...

You can read about the first three editions at this Web site.

I have the first three editions but not the fourth. I've only played using the third (Phalanx) edition. It looks better than the first two but takes up more table space. I'm holding off on buying the fourth edition because so far I haven't heard any good reason to get it.

Third has great components, but the map is very busy. I kind of like the second, myself.

It sounds like it is unanimous, Mayfair's fourth edition is terrible. Phalanx's edition looks sharp. Not sure where I'll find that edition though... or if it's jacked up in price.

I like the clean GDW lines of the 2nd edition map, more so especially since my eyesight has gone downhill as im getting older.

I'm thinking of using the living rules with the more compact 2nd edition componentry..

Can anyone forsee any problems?
