YOU are representing your country in the UN Security Council.
WHAM WHAM WHAM – LET THE NEGOTIATIONS BEGIN

The rules:

(please see this thread for details on how the game will run: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/896101/article-27-how-to-pla...)

1: Proposals, Bribes, Tabled/Floored issues, Hammering the Gavel, conditional Bribes must all be BOLDED to be counted as official. Any bribes talked about will not be honoured unless they have been BOLDED. This includes elaborate, particular bribes. Simply talking about the way the deal will work is not enough – YOU MUST BOLD THE SPECIFICS OF A CONDITIONAL BRIBE FOR IT TO BE COUNTED. Anything not bolded will not be considered an official proposal or bribe.

2: Do not edit posts. It’s ok if you want to edit a post a couple of minutes after posting to adjust for formatting, spelling, grammar, quotes, etc – but, please list any changes you’ve made. Deleting posts is unacceptable.

3: No dice rolls. Make decisions by politicking and debate, not chance.

4: The negotiation present in this game will be split amongst two phases – the mandatory negotiation phase (minimum of 24 hours), and the optional negotiation phase (up to an additional 24 hours, or until the secretary hammers the gavel). The negotiation is NOT allowed to begin until the secretary has hammered the gavel. The optional negotiation phase will begin immediately after 24 hours from the BGG time of the first hammer – NOT when the mod checks in. Players are encouraged to BOLD the start of the optional negotiation phase themselves, if no one else already has. After the gavel has been struck a second time (or when the timer runs out), additional negotiation is also not allowed, and any bolded proposals or bribes made after this time will not count (a leeway of 5 minutes will be allowed at the discretion of the mod).

5: After the negotiation phase has ended, players will have up to 24 hours to submit their vote to the mod (and are encouraged to take less time then this) – talking in the main thread about the vote is allowed to a degree, but players should NOT discuss in detail about why/how someone should vote. At this point, all bribes and proposals are final, and no changes can be made – discussing it further will likely only delay the game, and allow players to convince others to VETO instead of themselves.

6: Players will be polled in regards to proposals that fall on a weekend. We will NOT go with a majority, but rather, the most convenient for all players. If one player suggests postponing a Friday proposal until Monday because they have plans this weekend, but all the other players are happy to play on the weekend, then the proposal will be delayed until the Monday – I will not be putting people at a disadvantage because of their weekend schedule. The ‘weekend’ will be defined by BGG time. If you live in another country, and your Saturday is everyone else’s Friday, be prepared to miss out on some proposal time if you make plans for that Saturday. That being said, proposals mid week will NOT be delayed, for any reason bar public holidays (so, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years – we will take polls on that as it comes).

7: No PMs between players in relation to this game - don't do it. This includes other forms of private communication, such as telephone, or meeting up with the player. Deals, bribes, suggestions, negotiation - all should be made publicly within this thread - no exceptions.

Once I have enough players, I will poll the group on weather they wish to play with PUBLIC influence, or PRIVATE influence. In a public influence game, all players will know how much influence each player has, and this will be updated by the mod. In a private influence game, the influence will remain secret, including any lost or gained as a result of a successful proposal, and will be updated by the mod privately to a player. No one will know how much influence an individual has gained or lost as a result of a successful proposal.

So, I’ve got 3 people signed up already, I’ll see if we can’t get any more. I’ll be handing out secret agendas over the weekend, and I will signal the starting secretary general to begin the proposal around next Monday.

WHAM WHAM WHAM let the signup begin! Let me know which country you want to play - countries will be served on a first come first served basis. Please only select the countries from the base game, while I love the idea of playing Australia in this game, maybe we'll leave those cosmetic changes for future PBFs if this one is successful.

Hey...another PBF mod I'd like you to try:

In the IRL game, you draw issues out of a bag. I actually don't like this mechanic at 6 because all 30 issues are out on the table somewhere and theoretically you can deduce them.

What if you assigned us each our six issues randomly?

For instance, you draw 6 for me, tell me, put those six back, shake bag, draw another 6 for STOODS, etc.

Those two things (issues and scoring) would, in my opinion, "fix" what is otherwise a perfect game.

I was thinking about this, actually. It certainly makes randomization easier, but isn't the point that there's an even distribution of colours? Personally, I'm not fussed, I'll go with whatever the group is happy with (I might make another poll)... but, you're right, the distribution is uneven in any game other then a 6 player game, so, why shouldn't it be uneven in a 6 player game?

Ditto

So, thats 6 players! Awesome, I'll hand out secret agendas soon.

Please make sure to vote on the poll (looks like its going the way of private information, which is fine by me).

What do you guys think of Clydes idea, about truly random drawn issues? I'll create a poll from that.

...hmm, I may even start this earlier then Monday, actually - I wasn't expecting it to fill up so quick. I'll see if we can get in a proposal before the weekend.

Poll
Should issues be recycled each draw, to create truly random issues for each player, or should they be distributed evenly amongst the players?
Put them back each time, it should be completely random!
No, we should use and distribute all the issues amongst the 6 players evenly

Actually, Clyde, I'ma go ahead and reserve America for you, if you want it.

...you're the most American person I've ever met online. And that's not necessarily an insult (although, it kinda is).

This game would feel weird to me if you weren't sitting back screaming "AMERICA!" at random intervals, probably laden with expletives
