Ok...been eyeing this game since release. Read some about it but can't seem to grasp what it is and what it offers...

The only thing i'm sure of is it's better to have one box per player and that the boxes don't "need" to be of the same theme (example: Lolth vs Cormyr).

So, each box contains minis and 4 tiles (only 4?!!?)...so with 2 boxes you get 8 tiles to play on?

How does it play and how is it?

This is a skirmish game where you use card for the actions

the game is for 2 players usually, and both could play with one box but will be simplistic and anoying, the best is that each player have one box (doesn´t matter the faction) and play. The best is to play each one with one box (grummush vs cormyr, etc)

Yeah, the Mike1977 videos will answer all of your questions, they are not too long and very informative.

TLDR - It's good fun.

Would it be wrong to say this game is a combination of:

Chess (very positional)

and

Magic (lots of spells + abilities)

Chess and dungeon twister with cards are good ways to look at it, but with the feeling of D&D, even without dice it feels like it...

I haven't played magic since the first year or two it was out, but a lot of people say the cards feel like that.

I have the Heros, Drow and Goblins so far. One of the things i like about it is how portable it is. All three sets fit back into one the boxes. You basically have a Mordheim-like, skirmish game in one little box. Pick a warband and go. The price is rough though, that's $100+ for three factions. On the plus side... i didn't have to paint a thing.

How does it play? Well, it sets up pretty quick, doesn't take up too much tablespace and it's just plain old fun. The way the cards interact with the action on the map is great. It is a very tactical experience and delivers a surprising amount of narrative. I was skeptical about DC at first, but it won me over.

The ball is in WotC's court. Once this system get's up to six or eight sets i think the posibilities of mixing up your own warbands and decks will really open up. Hopefully they'll keep it going.

I checked some videos and it looks extremely cool.
I'll try to convince a friend to get into this with one set...it's not that expensive for whats look like a lot of fun within one box.

Since most of the minis are from DDM, one just needs cards and tiles from a secondary store, like Auggie's.
