Question ...
Just picked up Spartacus board game and going over the rules.
If a player asks for influence help from another player and gets it ... does that other player loose that influence on their turn ?

No. Influence is not spent like money. A player just has to have enough influence to meet the amount required by the scheme. If he doesn't have enough, other player(s) can contribute their influence to meet the total required without any loss and they can contribute over and over. This represents just being influential/powerful enough to do something.

The only cost is that the person might demand some gold for contributing their influence. And the only downside to the player contributing is that he might antagonize the target of the scheme!

To add to previous answers he could also ask for guards, slaves, weapons, gladiators, but those can only be given during the 1st step of the market phase! Since agreements are nonbinding he has to trust his partner in the scheme!

Also, the downside could be that the player doesn't even play the scheme he told! When he gets influence he can play whatever scheme he wants (within influence)

Good points. The possibilities for wheeling & dealing, and of course screwage, in this simple but clever game are almost endless! I can't wait for the expansion. Too bad it didn't make it out in time for holiday gaming.
