earlier it looked to me like all four groups in the 26-45 range were essentially equal. Right now the two groups in the middle of that range have been pulling ahead of the outer two groups that bracket them - and at an equal rate.

Meanwhile the outer two themselves have held mostly equal to each other, creating something close to symmetry for the foursome.

I'll be turning 25 this year, my final year in the minor leagues. Next year I get to be included in one of the popular bars!

Statistics is the only sort of math I genuinely enjoy.

I'm curious what would happen if we had a gender break down of ages, if us ladyfolk would be older or younger on average than the guys.

I play a videogame that heavily enjoys demographic data, with the average there being age 28 for players (Eve-Online, spreadsheets in space!) and a 98% male population. The joke among the women who do play, is that we're 2% of the playerbase, but 20% of the leaders (for a variety of reasons, some silly, some not). With there, and with boardgamers, I think women tend to get into the games older than their male counterparts.

My godmother used to say she always enjoyed most women after their first midlife crisis, or age 40, whichever came first...

Edit:
Also - 35 this year!

There must have been a moment at the beginning, where we could have said no. Somehow we missed it. Well, we'll know better next time.

As I tell the 'kids' at work. You reach a point where you realize that it's all down hill.

I ran some polls for the female BGGeeks a couple of years ago. The biggest age group (at 47.6%) was the 26-35 bracket. You can see that and other polls here:

Pretty interesting, but I wonder if the curve follows pretty closely to the ages of WWW users as a whole. The best data I could find in my admittedly short search was from 2002, so not really useful. My guess is that the first two bars probably vary most significantly between the two distributions, mostly because of the amount of people in those age brackets that play video games. I love the fact that people my mom's age and older are savvy enough to have found this site, though.

I'll leave it to someone else to find the visual reference for that.

and then there was a short boost right after I said that. Was it a coincidence? The short boost is over.

21 and at University. Loving the amount of time I have to play games at the moment.

Will be harder as I get older to fit in the games.

reaching a thousand responses would be an interesting benchmark but at the most recent rate that could still take 1 or 2 months.

Whoosh. We got 20 new entries in a quick couple hours and then it's been silent for another whole day and more after that. 954 is closer to 1000 but still not there yet.

If it helps, I can cross out my sixty-four and put two thirty-twos in.
