I want to split a pdf of an 11x17 page into 2 8.5x11 pages.
The pdf is of a map for Victory and Valor, I would like to
have the pages printed all the way across. Any freeware "splitters" available?
Thanks
James

If you're printing, you can probably just do that in the Print Settings window -- like, tell the printer you want to spread the PDF over two pages.

Low Tech method, to be sure. Probably doesn't address your real issue.

I like the sound of using the printer options.
But if that won't help you;
Google "pdf to image"
There are online services and open source desktop programs that do this.
Then use an image editor to cut the resulting image into two and check that they are the size you want?

Adobe Reader will do this. Look at the "poster" setup. I recently printed out a rulebook of Joan of Arc's Victory 1429 AD, which is formatted as 11x17.

Indeed, Adobe Reader version 9 or later for Windows or Mac will do this. (Tough luck to us Linux users though!)

All these replies are good, but... bear in mind that without a specialist printer, you still won't be able to print all the way across.

Generally, domestic printers have a few millimetres margin on every side of the page that they refuse to print in - if you want printing to the edge you'll have to pay a print shop to do it for you or trim your prints down.

jpdftweak does that and much more.

It takes some time to figure out all the options, but once you do it's easy.

+1 for PosteRazor.

I used it to print the maps for V&V and do double sized maps and counters for Ancients.

I had to download a pdf2jpg utility because PosteRazor only accepts images,
not pdfs.
Then I use 1 page, width 11", height 9.5". That's as good as I could get it
so far. still can't tell how to get rid of the white borders. I'll mess
around more with it later.
Thank ya'll for the help.
James
