I'm not sure...... so I'm asking.
What's an evil-themed game??
And why is D&D evil again?

I daresay it's just a house rule, gents. It probably isn't worth debating.

No doubt... I have no problem following rules, that's why I board game. And I admit the last comment was a bit snarky, but truly, one person's idea of evil could be science to another. And that being said, I would like to play some Zombicide with any one that is willing so it would be cool if we can find out if it is considered evil. The way I see it we'd be purging the game board of evil. And that's righteous. But if we can't it's cool and I'm greatful they provide the space.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments :)

When I set up the group, the church specifically asked for no D&D, so that's why I have the rule. Zombies are also out, sorry!

The venue is really good - we could easily host 30-40 gamers (although the most we have had so far on any occasion was 11).

Hope to see some of you there.

- Dan

Regarding "evil-themed" games - it is probably the most difficult thing to define.

Basically, just think of a fairly conservative person and would they find the theme of the game offensive or "evil". That's basically the rule.

For instance, a fairly conservative person would find poker to be "wrong" because of it's association with gambling. Personally, I enjoy the occasional $5 buy in game with mates, but I wouldn't do it in the church venue out of respect. The same thing applies for D&D, etc.

Hope this clarifies it a bit?

Pretty straight forward.

Is it D&D in particular or fantasy themes in general?

I ask since Lords of Waterdeep "isnt really D&D" but is set in the D&D world and there are the occasional monsters in the quests.

We started in August 2012 and had 11 people our first night. Since then, we have had 3 or 4 people each session. I have a couple guys who are regulars now, so a core group of 3. I reckon as long as you have 3 or more players, it's enough to play!

Some of the games we have been playing recently:
Catan Cities & Knights
Dominion
Munchkin
For Sale
Stone Age
Samurai
Formula D
Agora
Elasund

Other games I would like to get to the table soon:
Acquire
Citadels (if we have at least 5 players)
Innovation
Tigris & Euphrates

I usually bring along a selection of games from my collection, and others bring their games, too. Always keen to try new games!

Hi James,

Anything under the D&D banner is out, sorry :( I am keen to try LoW, but it will have to be elsewhere.

Anything else can be judged on a case-by-case basis. The intention is get together and enjoy playing boardgames. If you're not sure about a particular game, just bring it along and ask me.

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks for another fun night :)

We had 8 people this month with on 2 tables.

Table 1: No Thanks, Cleopatra & The Society of the Architects, For Sale
Table 2: Dominion Intrigue, Samurai

I also introduced a couple gamers to a few rounds of Innovation before it was time to go. Wouldn't mind getting a full game in if anyone is keen.
