Could anyone please tell me how to make a convenient good-looking homemade dice cup?

Thank you in advance. =) Pardon me for making this post so short, but I don't really know what to add. I thought of using cheap plastic picnic cups, but they are made of quite hard plastic that will probably wear the dice down: if I'm wrong, please tell me!

Edit: You changed the subject line, and my post makes no sense! Oh well. It wasn't rating real high on the sense scale in the first place.

I read this as: "Is there a way to make a good dice cup out of yourself?"

Yes, there is.

I suppose you could use some old leather. Cut a strip and a circle. Sew the strip together, then the bottom on one end. Boil for 20 or 30 seconds. Kinda labor intensive, but should produce something serviceable. Alternately you could just glue felt to the interior of any cup you like.

Most of my dice cups are hard plastic or cardboard. So I think you would be ok using just a normal plastic cup. Not classy, but easy to find.

Edit:

OR you could just use the top of this papercraft skull...

Thank you for the good hints. =) I was really afraid I'd wear down the dice too quickly.

O come on, why skulls again? robot

Maybe a dice-tower would be better?

You know what works great? Those soft foam soda can koozies (the thick ones not the thin ones).

Re: Is there a way to make a good dice cup out yourself?
Pardon me, but dice towers are too clumsy to carry with yourself, and even with a take-apart one, it would be hard to make it out of something a student can easily get (and plywood and a wood cutter are, unfortunately, not among these things, not even saying that I'm a Translator Science student and do not have the skills required to operate cutting machinery). And I doubt that a Whatman-paper dice tower is good and reliable.

A dice tray would be easier to assemble, since I can make it out of a small thick picture frame, but it is still too flimsy to carry around, in my opinion.

the thing that will wear your dice down is them banging into each other.

Great idea! And, if you get two of them, you can use an X-Acto knife to cut the bottom off of the second one to form a nice lid, if you want to store your dice in the koozy to make a portable game of, say, Yahtzee or Spare Time Bowling.

Have you considered a collapsible drinking cup? They appear very portable.

Vodka koozie?

seriously tho, I took my cup from a yahtzee game and bought some felt at a craft store. I used white glue to coat the inside of the cup and stuck it in there. The glue bled through but when it dried it did muffle the sound of the dice.
