Welcome to my profile.
This website has had a negative effect on my life. Why, you ask? Simple. I'm drawn to it... like a moth to the flame. Before BGG my life was ruled by MSN's Free Cell. I'd play it endlessly, hundreds and hundreds of games at a time. The baby would be crying, his little diaper overflowing with foul-smelling stuff. The pot would boil over, smoke pouring out of the kitchen. Phones would ring and click over to the message function. And through it all, I'd be playing Free Cell.
But no longer. For years now Free Cell has taken a back seat to the aimless, numb, mindless cruising of BGG. Reading truly dumb Geek Lists. Responding yet again to the terminally idiotic threads asking what game might turn "wifey" into a Geek? (Lost Cities, you loser!!!) And then there's Chit-Chat and Religion, Sex & Politics. Those are black holes of the Internet. Places where, when you enter, you will probably never return. They suck you down into a stinky drain: full of offal, refuse and greasy, slimy liquids and no matter how short your visit, you return from those places feeling soiled. And lessened.
Still, BGG isn't all bad. Not by a stretch. If you actually like board games this is an okay place. I used to write reviews and session reports, take images for upload and even seek out games that weren't in the data base. But that's pointless now because there are tens of thousands of nerd boys and nerdettes all seeking the same thing... the "thumbs", the GG, the recognition. And they blast content at this site with the same velocity and volume as one of those gatling guns mounted on an A-10. It's constant, overwhelming and so intense that nobody could ever possibly ingest even a small percentage of it.
Honestly folks... I've been gaming since 1962 and even I don't want to know 2% of the dribble that is being stuffed into this website.
But if you do have an interest in what a long time gamer like me enjoys, then look at my games owned selection. I've pared it down over the last 4 years from maybe 500 games to under 150. My ultimate goal is perhaps 50 games. And then, add maybe 4 new ones per year.
Feel free to email me if you have played a game that you suspect I might enjoy. I'm always on the look-out for a truly special acquisition.
I included this picture of me aboard my Harley because a number of old time BGG'ers know that I love motorcycles. My gallery has some other images of me and a small selection of outstanding motorcycles I've owned over the years. In fact, the only two things that have been a constant in my life since the 60's have been board games and motorcycles. Well, there's also a long string of ex-wives and girlfriends, but those don't count because you can't actually collect them, repair them or sell them on eBay.
