Rookies talk about Strategy, Grognards about Logistics...
I was born in France in 1970. My father has been a commissioned officer in the French Navy (Aeronavale). He served briefly aboard LPH-7 Guadalcanal in the 80's and had an USN friend serving aboard CVN-68 Nimitz, so I had the great pleasure to visit these ships (that's certainly why I am a fan of Fleet series from VG).
In 1983, I discovered Wargames with Okinawa from International Team and Panzergruppe Guderian from SPI. Also, I have played "Dungeons and Dragons" and my first class played was Warrior...
Then in 1985, with my classmates, we played more games : "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" (and I switched to my favorite class, Cleric), Battlecars and the famous Avalon Hill and Victory Games wargames (Third Reich, Air Force, Up Front, Squad Leader, Vietnam...)
In 90's I was seduced by Magic The Gathering (I must confess I was playing Blue) and in 1998, I started an addictive collection/play of miniatures from Warhammer Battle (favorite army Undead) and Warhammer 40K (favorite army Dark Angels) which I have painted with great pleasure.
Nevertheless, I have never stopped playing wargames (with a preference for WWII), and I have welcomed card-driven games thanks to GMT.
I'm compulsively reading Osprey Military History Books, owning more than 300 titles, mainly about WWII.
I obtained my military paratrooper badge in 1988 and I was commissioned as Reserve Officer in 1992 at Saumur, in armoured troops (11e Régiment de Cuirassiers then 141e Régiment d'Infanterie Motorisée), so, I'm interested in hypothetical WWIII games and watching if NATO could have stopped a soviet attack. I will always take pleasure in playing AH Tac Air or a LnL "World at War" game.
Now, I am teaching tax system and I am the father of Anthelme, a boy born in 2008 who borrows my dice and counters (and my planes from Angels 20/Bandits High).
