***7th Feb 2016 - I'm away for two weeks so I've suspended my sale items until I get back***
Born in '67, married with two small children. I'm a South African who's lived in the UK since '94 when I came over to see the world and met my wife on the way.
I've messed about with toy soldiers and cowboys & indians ever since I can remember. As a teenager at boarding school I discovered Squad Leader & Russian Campaign and flirted briefly with D&D and Star Frontiers. In my university years while studying English Lit, Classics & Law it was all miniature wargames - mainly WRG Ancients but with a fair mix of Napoleonics, Fantasy and Viking Skirmish. After that I worked for a gaming store in Cape Town for six months before heading overseas and discovered the wonders of Up Front, Merchant of Venus, Titan and Breakout Normandy. There was also this new game called Magic....
I lived in London for 7 years. Main highlights were more miniatures (still Ancients but also Fire & Fury American Civil War), more Magic, Space Hulk and Columbia's block games. Then the Euros arrived, especially Reiner K, and I found a whole new aspect to the hobby to enjoy.
I moved us out of the Big Smoke to rural Norfolk to take up a position at a law firm. At first it cramped my gaming but I persevered until I'd found enough like-minded gamers for Euros, wargames, miniatures and AT and then the pace of gaming and my collection really took off. Since our 2007 move to Worcestershire I've had to build new links but I'm certainly not starved for games.
A word about my ratings and record of games played:
I tend not to keep games I don't like so my ratings are on the higher side and I also won't rate a game a 9 (or even yet a 10) until I feel I've played it enough to justify the high rating. Hence the plethora of 7's in my collection.
I started recording games played in 2000. I've entered all of these on the Geek (so no, I didn't play a gazillion games in August 2006). I also recorded most of the games played for my own collection before 2000. You'll appreciate that this was pretty easy in 2000 when I had less than 40 games.
