"There's nothing smarter to do in this world than playing games."
- Henrik Ibsen
"Men do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing."
- Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes
Father of two girls (5 and 4 as of Nov. 2009), husband of one wife (age not specified), I am surrounded by women.
In my high-school and college years, I used to play a lot of board games, and then in my twenties and thirties, they sort of fell by the wayside. Party games were common at our large group gatherings, but they always seemed a little empty. Our game closet had shameful items in it.
Fall of '05, our friends introduced us to The Settlers of Catan -- a game I'd heard about but never played -- and we enjoyed it. I actually won my first game. I'm sure this helped cement my enjoyment. We bought ourselves a copy, and brought home Carcassonne as well. A little web-surfing and I arrived at the 'Geek, and discovered more great games. Since then, my collection has steadily grown through thrifting, trading, and several purchases.
I really like trading, but please contact me via geekmail to work out the details before sending me an official trade proposal. I really do try to respond to every trade offer, but sometimes I miss a couple.
If you're in the Chippewa Valley (Wisconsin) area and are looking for a game group, drop me a note. We have a group that typically meets every other Friday evening for games. But a word of warning: we're rather normal.
