Oh, hey there!
Welcome to my profile. Look around, make your self comfy.
I thought I would update this, since I haven't done anything with it for a few while.
I am a gamer dad with a gaming wife and a gaming teenage son. We mostly play boardgames, but I have a love of RPG's - I got into the gaming world with 1st Edition D&D. After that I played everything RPG. Traveller, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, Twilight 200, Call of Cthuhlu, Champions, GURPS, you name it - if it was published between 1982 and 1998 I probably owned it or played it. I used to play some boardgames then. Starfleet Battles, a bunch of the old Avalon Hills wargames, but I was mostly focused on RPG's.
There was a long break from gaming, and then I was introduced to Arkham Horror. The boardgame bug bit, and we have been playing a great many since. We found that a quick boardgame was a great family activity, and we didn't have to try and set up a regular gaming group like you do for RPG's.
That being said, my son has started to take an interest in RPG's, and thinks that Dark Heresy is the coolest game ever (courtesy of his Uncle). If I could find the time, I have a feeling that I would be playing RPG's quite a bit now too.
I would say that most of our games are in the AT style, we seem to like things with action and excitement. Racing games are fun for us, and I have thought about trying to find a good entry level wargame for my son to try out. I would say that we are open to trying any kind of game, it is just a matter of exposure.
