I like heavy games of the non-grognard variety such as Die Macher and 18xx. However, I also enjoy several Euros too, such as Puerto Rico, Power Grid, War of the Ring, and La Havre. I would rather play one, involved game for 3 hours, than 4 short games of 45 minutes each. (One of the geek questions I submitted long ago.)
I have very recently moved with my family to Florida, and have yet to find a gaming group.
I make a solid attempt to comment on my entire game collection (current and traded away), and update my comments on those games. I view a '10' as a game that I will adjust my schedule to play; while a '1' is, well... not a game; literally. As such, due to personal preference selection (I am not going to voluntarily play a game that I know I won't enjoy) most of my ratings are in the 6-9 range. I go through stages of recording boardgames I play. Overall, I am horribly bad
at keeping up my plays. However
Playing games is still > recording games, however. Most of my game playing since moving to FL has been with my children (5,7,9,12); although I have been slowly gathering potential board game players. (4+)
I also enjoy computer games of the strategic (Civilization / Space 4x) and fantasy action ( PoE / Diablo) variety. I am an ex-rpger... lacking the time I occassionally purchase an rpg game (Skyrim). Other BGGers have got me into WoW, and I raided hard for a couple years. I am now playing EvE online, and enjoying it quite a bit. One of the things that intrigues me is that you can 'buy'/'sell' 30day subscribtions. I essentially play for free. I have written an EVE review on VGG if you'd like to know more.
My work and family has me quite busy, and I don't find myself looking at BGG as much as I used to. I logg on less than 1x / week
, unless I'm looking for a particular answer to something.
