I've been playing board games since the early 70's. Got away from it at the dawn of the video age of the 80's with Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
Up to about 2009, I really had no interest in playing board games except for the Ameri-trash games of Monopoly, Clue, Risk, etc. I like those games but a friend introduced me to Agricola and the rest is history.
I jumped head first into this game and found a whole new genre (to me anyway) of board gaming. The Euro-style suits my game experience. I went on a game buying binge and went from maybe 13 to 112 in about 9 months. I purchased all kinds of games and their expansions. Several of the games I have yet to play but will get around to it.
I'm glad I have found this new hobby. Kim likes it too. Even though she thinks I have gone overboard and obssessed. But, hey, it's better than being addicted to something worse!
I attended my first gaming convention - "Geekway to the West" and loved it. I could only spend 2 of the 4 days as I was busy but plan on attending many more, including Essen. If not this year, most definitely next.
I really enjoy the interaction these games provide and the strategy involved. I've introduced several of them to my friends. My brother even went out and bought "Settlers of Catan" the next day after trying it out for the first time.
I'm glad to be a part of the gaming community and look forward to introducing others to this challenging and wonderful hobby
