I'm pretty much your typical dork, geek, nerd, whatever.A late bloomer in the world of BG geekery, I grew up terrified by the tedium of games like Monopoly, I avoided anything tied to the term 'board game' because of the impression that all board games involved exciting actions like charging rent on each turn. Later on, I discovered the CCG market and fell into the money pit that is M:TG. Luckily, I recovered from that (it's fun, but nearly impossible to keep up unless you have a lot of spare income) and am now discovering the pleasures of gaming in a non-collectable format. My first real acquisition was Dominion and I haven't really looked back since.
The plan is to slowly add more games to my collection. Visitors to my profile will probably notice that I have a ton of games that I want to play. If you're in the area and have some of these games, let me know! I would love to try them out and either trim some of that fat or keep in mind that I need to own that sacred stack of cardboard and die! I'm trying to buy games wisely - Blind buys on 30 to 70 dollar games is a bad financial move for a librarian! If you are in the Mid-Missouri area and have any of the games on my 'Want to Play' list, and are willing to introduce a new player to the game, by all means shoot me a message as my girlfriend and I would most likely love to try it out.
I try to rate games I own. I rate mostly on how much fun the game is, as I'm not particularly that picky when it comes to game mechanics or ingenuity. Don't get me wrong, the mechanics have to be good, the theme has to be interesting and the game has to have those 'A Ha!' moments, but what I look for most in the game is, 'Am I having fun?'.
