Our family played the classic family boardgames (Monopoly, Clue, Life, Battleship, Chess, Cards, etc) when I was growing up. In 1978 while in High School, I bought my first war game,
Squad Leader by Avalon Hill and I was really hooked.
I went on to purchase Dungeon & Dragons (the blue box version) and other Avalon Hill titles, which I still have. While in college I married my high school sweetheart Kathy
[Library_Goddess] and we played a lot of card games such as
UNO,
O'NO 99 and
Backgammon. Kathy and I also played played a lot of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and another college buddy and I played a lot of
Star Fleet Battles.
Several years and 3 boys later:
Zac
[Sacsquash],
Lukas and
Andrew
[Dozer])
We got caught up in
Magic: The Gathering CCG when it came out along with another collectible game,
Dragon Dice. I have not bought any Magic cards for several years and rarely play now.
Several years went by and we played mainly RPGs when we played games but my boys and I mostly played computer games. Then at GenCon 2003 we bought Settlers of Catan and as a family we started playing board games again. Since then I have since bought several Euro games which my family and friends play on a regular basis. In 2006 I went nuts and bought a lot of games going from about 230 games to about 340. Now I am concentrating on playing what I have.
In 2008 I succeeded in playing games that I have but I failed in not buying more. As of Jan 2009 I am up to about 570 games. I think that I am going to have to retire to play them all.
Top 10 - These are my favorite games.
Hot 10 - These are the games that I have been recently playing the most.
