Destined to geek
Been a modeller since age 7 - by which time I was already into classic cardgames and 1970's family boardgames - and an adventure gamer since not much later. Put in a major stint as a teenage tankie; then as a roleplayer, which was what got me into fantasy minis. Took up 40K much later, via Space Hulk
, but just in time to play my first ever game under Rogue Trader
in my local GW. That was the beginning of another long miniatures bash, at the back end of which I've recently rediscovered my abiding interest in WW2 wargaming, albeit now in the form of boardgames instead of microarmour.
At the core of the best of my gaming fun throughout those decades, boardgames and cardgames are now playing as big a part in my gaming life as they ever have. Today's generation of games across all genres means that there really never
has been a better time to be a boardgamer.Ratings
I apply the BGG rating system fairly strictly, ie. according to how likely I am to play them. Against that, there are some games I'll probably never play again deserving of high ratings because of abiding merit and/or signifcance.Bloggery, here and elsewhere
