Mike's Timeline of games

Pre 1980: I guess this would be the mix of chutes'n'ladders, hi-ho-cherry-o, life, and chess with my dad
1981: Introduced to D&D in the red box, played it with my stepbrother as DM for over a year
1982: Got together with more friends locally and created a regular D&D group.

1984: My neighbor turned me on to microgames such as Ogre, GEV, and others. First exposure to the Hex.
1985: Started turning up the heat playing D&D, gamma world, and boot hill. 24 hour sessions were the norm. Found a great FLGS Wargames West.
1988: Joined the US Navy, which is were I thought would be the end of my gaming days. Hardly. All those days out to sea saw games like Marvel Super Heroes, D&D, and many more.
1992. Got out of the Navy and went to college. Then started working for War Games West part time. Got into so many RPG's, such as morrow project, cthulhu, rifts. Also the year started getting hot and heavy into Hex based war games.
1993: Magic the Gathering. I was working at WWW when they brought in this new card game that I asorbed like a spong. I went crazy, and spent way to much moola. Alpha, Beta, Legends, Arabian nights, on and on...
1994: Still on a Magic kick, played nothing but magic.
1995: Magic was starting to flounder for me, and got into other CCG's like bloodwars, doomtrooper, starwars, and star trek.
1996: Totally burnt out of CCG's, next on the plate Warhammer 40K. Totally went overboard with mini's, painting, playing, yelling. It was cool.


1997: Graduated college, off to the real world. Didn't know any gamers in Texas, was a dry year. Did mostly collecting of old D&D modules.
1998: Settlers of Catan. Boardgaming took off from this point . Also started playing ASL with a local group, tons of ASL.
1999: Got into playing much more Settlers, Acquire, Avalon Hill games, and more heavy titles.
2000: BGG, found a great site with lots of info, loved it ever since.
2001 : Euros Euros EurosLog, Log, Log, Live breath EurosLog.



Today: Still on a Euro Log boardgaming kick which hasn't gotten old yet.
