I have always enjoyed games but growing up an only child did not often get to play board games. Looking back, I think I had the personality for board games but not many opportunities. I played video games quite a bit but eventually burned out on them--my favorites were Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 (that's where my username MajorOracle comes from). I rarely play video games now.
However, in December 2006, my fascination with the modern board game world started. I bought Memoir '44 and it became my favorite game. For a period of time, I was playing this game on lunches at work with co-workers (2 of whom also bought the game). It was through the Days of Wonder forums that I found Board Game Geek and discovered the modern world of Board Games. I have aquired dozens of board games in the years since them and become involved with a local board game group, The Oahu Board Gamers
, as well as attending GenCon 2009 with my wife (we had a blast!), where we met both Dr. Reiner Knizia and Richard Borg, the creator of Memoir '44.
My most consistent gaming partner is my wife, who is not a hardcore gamer, but does enjoy playing. We are both Christians (if you are interested in the basics of Chrisitianity see http://www.campuscrusade.com/fourlawseng.htm

Professionally, I am a database administrator.
I live in the great state of Hawaii, and for a general guild on boardgaming in Hawaii visit the Hawaii Guild
By the way, my avatar is a photo of me and Reiner Knizia (a very nice man, BTW). By chance, I ran into him at GenCon 2009, my first gaming con (what a blast!).
