I have been playing games forever or what feels like forever. I started with Snakes and Ladders, Checkers, War. Moved onto Crokinole, Othello, and Chess. Then Coleco Vision consumed my time like no other. Then onto Axis and Allies, Stratego, AD&D. Then onto Cosmic Encounter, Wiz War, A House Divided, Shogun. Talisman became legend. Then onto Blood Bowl. Next Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Then onto Magic the Gathering and Cribbage. In 1996 life changed again with Settlers and a bit later El Grande. This brings us to today with the German game invasion and its entire ilk. That pretty much sums it all up folks. I have been on a buying tear over the past few years. I have always wanted to own / manage my own store or board game cafe. Games take almost all of my free time. They are what I know and love best.
My personal top 10 is based on my accumulated statistics since 1999. The games are rated in order from most played to least played. My hot ten includes the most played games during the previous month or titles I am currently enamored with.
Now that my oldest son is in the seven year old category I have been playing lots of games to give him a headstart on all of the great things they teach us. I expect children's games to be at the top ten lists every year for quite a while. I try to play a game with him every chance I get!!! He is such an amazing, smart kid.
My youngest boy has completed a successful recovery from his heart surgery. He is going to be a solid boy (11 mths old in size 2 clothes).
On Father's Day, 2010 I got out of a four year relationship. I am sad right now but hopefully in time my heart will heal. I miss Carmen and her two amazing little girls.
Finally - since Feb 2011 I have been diligently working on my first board game design. It is tentatively called "Whiskey Traders". It is a loose historical simulation of the CDN and US West circa 1873 - 1890. It has some really unique elements and I am very optimistic it will find a publisher at some point before mid 2012. The game is now on BGG.
