Being a history buff I like wargames and historical simulations. Whenever I find a wargame I really enjoy, I tend to grab a study about its topic. It's a great way to learn.
I’m especially interested in early modern warfare. Napoleon's battles are my favourites by far. Thirty Years War is another series of conflicts I find fascinating. But more often than not I play games that simulate World War 2, because my distinguished wargaming opponent likes those. He prefers to be the German player. In other words I don't get to play our "waffenbrüder" but that's fine, I like the Soviets. I enjoy defending Russia no matter what the era or battle in question is.
I’m an academic who spends long days reading and writing. I have little free time. When I play wargames I don’t think about the research problems I’m struggling with and that’s great. Wargaming is a terrific hobby as it really takes my mind off my work.
My hot 10 games are ones I want to play right now. There are often games on the list I haven't played yet. My top ten is a list of games and game series I like a lot.A note on the avatar: Marshal Murat (1767-1815), the most famous of many daring and charismatic French cavalry commanders in the Napoleonic wars.
