I am a Mk 53 engineer and have actually designed machines (for manufacturing High Intensity Discharge Lamps), but I have been in software consulting and development since 1984, mostly CAD and PLM, and I am more or less retired now.
I have also been active in voluntary civil defence/rescue branch for many years (latest function, platoon leader), which gave me some of the experience I used for my work on the Flash Point: Fire Rescue
My ongoing interests (in addition to those listed elsewhere on BGG) include writing, translating (German ) English) and working on games ideas, prototypes, graphics and rules, and the tools I use for that are mainly Filemaker, Dreamweaver and Illustrator in addition to the usual (Mac) office tools. This is also where I accept appointments to make me "less retired".
The games that interest me are mainly thematic games, i.e. games where the mechanics were developed to fit a certain theme, as opposed to the exchangable, pasted-on themes I see in many "Euros". That provided, the theme itself can be almost anything (as long as it is neither zombies nor fundamentalism). I am quite happy to play solitaire, too.
My problem: Too many games.
