I'm kind of new to gaming, but not really. I've always liked playing new games with family and friends, but I've always felt like I'd want to play on a more regular basis. Well, I'm still working on that.
In the meantime I discovered BGG and have really been turned on to the number of games out there. I seem to be in the "gateway" niche. I like abstract and some thinking and some strategy. But nothing too deep or that takes more than 60-90 minutes. So far, I love Dominion, Legendary and Ticket to Ride. I enjoy Lost Cities, Tumblin' Dice and Castle Panic with my kids. And I've taken advantage of many of the auctions on BGG to add to my collection. In fact, too many. The $$$ and the space is disappearing! Lately, I've discovered the fun of trading games. I really enjoy that as well.
I'm a big sports fan and am always looking for games to tie that in. There's not many good ones that I have found so far. I'm into ice hockey, basketball, american football and baseball. I have 2 sons ages 18 and 15 I play most of my games with. They're good sports about being my guinea pigs...and I just got married and brought in 2 step kids (16 and 18). They are not gamers, but I'm working on them.
