Secret Santa 2015
It's been a big year!
- Married in February.
- 6 week holiday (belated Honeymoon) through Europe, including Essen.
- New role (promotion) at work.
I must have done something right
It's my birthday on the 12 Nov 15 so there's a chance that I'll get a game or two. If you are happy to wait, I will update my wishlist so that you don't purchase something I didn't realise I already had post birthday.
Was lucky enough to pick up Porto Nigra and Pandemic Legacy!
This is the first year that my wife (bluefroggirl) hasn't joined in. She's very busy at work and doesn't believe she can give the event the attention it deserves. So you have many options. You can conspire with her around my gift, you can grab something off her wishlist instead and surprise her or simply do your own thing. Whatever makes it a fun event for you.
I've marked my wishlist with SS15 for games for Secret Santa. If you want to go off this list, please liaise with Merran so there are no duplications.
Hope you enjoy the event and that you have a great Xmas.
G'day, and thanks for visiting my profile.
A little about me and my interests:
I live in Canberra, Australia and spend a lot of time with my Partner Merran (BGG: Bluefroggirl), and her daughter Romana (BGG: Princess Romana). Merran is my main gaming partner, though I am blessed that Canberra has plenty of like minded gamers.Boardgames
My BGG Profile contains the full list of games Merran and I own so we have one easy reference. Her profile lists her games.
I've enjoyed games for as long as I can remember. I have memories of playing squatter, monopoly, cribbage, 500, chess and numerous other mainly mainstream games during my formative years, though I always seemed short of willing opponents. At uni I was introduced to some of the older euro style games (diplomacy and some civ game) and enjoyed the experience, though once again they were occasional affairs. Warhammer Quest, Risk and Chess are the most memorable games that I played at work and home from early 20s to mid 30s.
My true gaming renaissance came when I visited Cancon in Jan 09. I went home with the Settlers of Catan and it opened my life to the wonders of boardgames. It has since become my passion.
I enjoy all games, though deeper euros and dexterity games are probably my favourites.
I tend to pick up and retain rules quite well so I often find myself teaching games to others. I've had good feedback on my approach to teaching and enjoy doing it though it's also nice to be able to sit down at a table with a group that knows the game so you can concentrate on your own game.
I like to think I'm very approachable. If you're ever in Canberra and looking for a game, look me up.Books
A have a great collection of Sci Fi and Fantasy novels and enjoy reading immensely. Lately I find that I don't have the time to do as much as I'd like. Thankfully, I've discovered audio books and now do a lot of my 'reading' in the car or while out walking. Favourite authors include:
Raymond E Feist
New favourite is Kevin Hearne
and his Iron Druid Chronicles
. Do yourself a favour and check them out. Oberon is one of the coolest characters in print.
