I have been gaming since I was a little kid. I got my first real taste of gaming when my brother received Dark Tower for Christmas. We played that for days on end. Then one day I saw my brother playing a war game by SPI (WW3) I remember the orange cover and seeing all the square counters and the map and thought it was the coolest thing. I had to get one for myself. I was hooked on those games as a kid especially as more of the counters started to have pictures of tanks and planes. Then I saw it, a similar style game in The Game Room Store, but in such a tiny box (Dimension Demons by Metagaming Concepts) and begged my dad to get it. It was $3. My dad read the directions, showed me how to play, then I played it with my friends and was hooked ever since. I started collecting them all, then found similar TSR games and Task Force Games, then then I moved on to Avalon Hill and discovered Dragon Pass (which is still one of my favorites to this day) then SPI, GDW, VG as I got older. I still have all the games I collected as a kid. I Started to collect when the market was slowing down to the rise of Collectible Card Games and RPG's. I never found the same excitement in those as I did with board games. Unfortunately, my gaming friends did. As stores were closing I was buying everything I could just to collect. Then I discovered what Full Time work was and my hobby stalled for many, many years as well as my gaming friends too. I ended up converting one of my spare rooms into a game room a few years ago as I really had no room for all my games and most of them were still sealed in the attic or closets. As I am getting older, I'm losing the interest in the "bragging rights" of collecting certain titles and really would just like to keep and buy the games I will most likely play. I dabble now and then in designing some games I've had ideas for years but I don't have the time that really needs to be put into it. I enjoy all types of games from wargames to Ameritrash to Euros. Some of my favorite games are Carcassonne, Runebound, Talisman, Arkham Horror, Nuklear Winter 68', The Korean War, Space Empires 4X, Acquire, Dragon Pass, Swords & Sorcery, The Pocket at Falaise, Puerto Rico, The Devil's Horsemen, GMT's Musket & Pike series Nothing Gained But Glory to name a few.
