I started off playing boardgames with chess at 5 years old. Besides the standard department store fare, my other childhood games included the MB GameMaster series of Axis & Allies, Conquest of the Empire, and a dash of Fortress America.
I played chess through college but not really anything else. And then nothing for the first five years after college. My brother then introduced me to Settlers which reignited my passion for board games.
I played mostly euros for a few years after that, but am now more likely to play big multiplayer strategy games (both modern stuff and classic AH games) plus a good dose of wargames. Euros still work as fillers.
Since 2005/6 I've started attending conventions: BGG.Con and the WBC primarily.
