I always loved playing boardgames since being a kid but due to a lack of players I took a detour to RPGs and PC games during the´90s.
After finishing university I started working as a network administrator in Bonn. Some of my new colleagues turned out to be BGGeeks as well and now I'm part of a nice weekly "Spieletreff" since 2001.
Aside from this I've been a game promoter (Erklärbär) for several years at family game days and fairs like the Spiel in Essen.
My collection has grown quickly in the last 10 years and has taken over my home office. Today I try to limit my puchases to games with unique mechanisms or theme. (The emphasis is on "try"
) But a nice little dungeon crawler with 10 dozend minis always fits in somewhere, right?
I love interactive games that tell stories like dungeon crawlers or real-time challenges like Space Alert or Escape: Curse of the Temple. I'm not much of an Euro fan but I'm OK with stuff where you build something as in Agricola or Castels of Burgundy or the classic 1-hour "german game". Deep epic strategy games should better have not too much downtime or I tend to dose off or get grumpy: "In the time it took you to consider your move I have already forgotten what I wanted to do TWICE!".
I didn't rate all of my TOP10 games but all of them are the ones you could wake me up in the middle of the night to play.
The HOT10 games are the games I'm actually playing a lot right now or which I want to play more.
