It was back in the late 70's and early 80's when I spent a bit of time war-gaming and playing a game called DragonQuest. Over the years, I drifted from this as new interests and life changes called me in different directions. Such is life.
However, a group of friends reignited the passions and boardgaming worked itself into my life again. I also found that the family enjoyed competing via board games (and thankfully reduced the wasted time sitting in front of the "boob tube" watching the upteenth rerun of poorly written sit-com) several evenings a week. So... I now get to play several times a week and have developed a craving for acquiring new games for the reawakened hobby.
I still fish, garden, coach soccer, etc., but I end up devoting a fair amount of time to gaming in general. Whether it's spending quality time with the family, quaffing a few ales with friends or attempting (whenever possible) to trash the competition, it looks like board-gaming will be in the picture for some time to come.
