I've loved games in general as long as I can remember. Although I have strayed into the RPG realm and I do enjoy several miniatures games, my main love has always been board games.
The game that really started it for me, as far as strategy games go, was Axis & Allies
. I remember getting it new for Christmas way back when and being instantly in love with the board and the components. It took me a long time before I could actually play it. In junior high, a couple friends and I would get together on the weekends and play long marathon games of A&A. I've since bought and played multiple other A&A games, but I still love the original (if only, mainly for sentimental reasons).
I was also fortunate in my youth to be given half a dozen or so old AH games from a friend of my parents. They were almost all war game in theme, games such as Rise and Decline of the Third Reich
, Richthofen's War
, Starship Troopers
. To this day war games are still one of my favorite genres of board games.
Board gaming has now become my number one hobby. I credit this mainly to friends throughout the years, especially
He really introduced me to all the variety that board gaming has to offer and largely due to him I now love to play many different types of board and card games. I am particularly fond of horror themed games, especially with zombies, and coop games. I have recently become interested in dungeon crawls as well. I also play lot's of games with my young kids. Habas are our favorite. Overall I love all kinds of games and always enjoy trying something new.
I have also become a board game thrifter. This I have to credit to
Papua New Guinea
They showed me the gold that one can find if one is patient and persistent. Thrifting has allowed me to dramatically increase my game collection without going into the poor house. It has also caused me to build more shelves, but I consider that a good thing.
My Top 10 list is made up of the top ten games that I most want to thrift.
My Hot 10 list consists of the top ten games I am most itching to play.
