I'm a newer gamer, having accidentally run into one of Tom Vasel's Youtube videos in 2009. I watched about a dozen-and-a-half of his videos within two days, amazed that someone played so many games.
I also could not wrap my head around the fact that an adult of his age posted videos about playing games!
After two dozen more video views within the next week, I was hooked. Those games looked fun! No roll-and-move mechanics. Nor any reading cards and paying fines. This was gaming that I'd never witnessed before.
I have a nice collection now--save one problem. I am yet attempting to coax my family into gaming.
It's not a complete failure but they just don't "get it"
A few weeks after making Tom Vasel's Youtube channel a regular visit, I came to BGG and immersed myself more. What an incredible site this is. Its structure is fantastic but what makes it sing is the community. This is the most vibrant website I've ever visited. Open, friendly, engaged--wonderful.
I also love history, keeping up on current events, and learning more about my Lord and my God, Jesus the Christ.
He saved my soul 9 years ago. Cleaned up my life, my mind and my heart. After 40 years of thinking I was smart and strong enough to use this world for my
benefit, He showed me how big of a fool I was.
It's humbling to realize not only how small you are, but how big He is. Yet, He loves us. Amazing. I love Him dearly.
Wish I could be a better son at times, though.
