Hello! Guten Tag! Bonjour! Zdraustvuite! Ni hao! Dia Dhuit! Hola! God dag!
I teach kindergarten through fifth grade elementary music in La Crosse, WI. As a magnate school based on global education, we cover the district's curriculum through the lense of international studies. (For example, when studying the life cycle of a butterfly, our second grade students also learn about where they migrate to in Mexico, celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Dia de las Muertos, etc.)
Each grade focuses on one of La Crosse's sister cities (K-China, 1-Norway, 2-Ireland, 3-Germany, 4-Russia, 5-France), and we study many other countries and cultures through the year.
What better way could there be to teach thinking skills and learn about other cultures than to have a Euro Game Club? With this is mind, a couple of buddies and I set out in the fall of 08 to start up a 4th-5th grade after school game club. Many of our games are loaned from friends, but we have been able to purchase a few. All of the kids' game logs, background information on the games, and parent info are kept on my blog, www.nwigamers.blogspot.com
Thursdays are full of gaming goodness for me, as I get to go straight from our school game club to the La Crosse Area Gamers for more fun.
So many games, so little time!
