I got into gaming, as many have, via Magic: the Gathering. I was impressed with Magic fairly early in its life - at least for central Nebraska. I was impressed with the game, and actively collected the cards over a year before I ever got a chance to play a game of it, or even meet another player! Once I hit college and found these elusive Magic players, I fell in love. In 1998 I played my first game of Settlers, and fell in love again.
Then I met my future wife a few years later, and truly fell in love.
I married a non-gamer, but that title didn't stick for very long. Carcassonne, Settlers, and many others paved the way - and now much heavier fare such as Agricola, Power Grid, and Battlestar Galactica have been welcomed into our relationship with open arms (mostly).
Now we have two young boys, but growing everyday. The oldest, Henry, has been obsessed with Pokemon since he was three years old, and loves to get in a battle whenever he can. Henry has a healthy interest in games like Stone Age, Dominion, and especially Small World, but not to the level that Pokemon is. Our youngest, Samuel, loves to play and teach others games like Gulo Gulo, Nacht der Magier, and more, and especially loves to get in a two player game of anything with just dad.
I have a great collection of my best friends, that fortunately also happen to enjoy gaming. We meet to play games once a week over lunch, and fairly regularly outside of that too.
I live in Douglas, Nebraska - an insanely small town of about 200 people that's about 30-45 minutes away from Lincoln. It can make for difficult times with such a long commute (for work, games, or even just to buy groceries), but it's a great little community and we love so much about being relatively in the middle of nowhere.
My Top Games are my current all-time favorites. The Hot Games List are those that I have played most frequently in the past few months. . .
