My Avatar (The Count)
is the nickname my family has given me with regards to games since childhood. It refers to my OCD tendencies to make sure I have every piece and bit of all my games.I love all games!
I like Eurogames, Ameritrash, card games, party games to play with family and friends, children's games, abstracts, and wargames. I also like to play old "standards" like Monopoly, Risk, and Scrabble. There are very few games I dislike completely, and there is usually something in a game I will like.
I love modern games, but I like old games (traditional games) too, and I have a fondness for games that have stood the test of time (Go, Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, etc.). I love the history of games to go with my love of history. I love game books and books about game history (like Alfonso X's Libro de Juegos
I currently play most games with my sixteen year old son and a local gamegroup of people I met here on BGG.My "Favorite Games"
are a mix of different kinds of games, because it depends on the group or person I am playing with on what game I prefer. My current favorite games from each category are as follows:

I have adopted dakarp's alternate ratings: Alternate Rating Guidelines
, but I also like to see how games age.
To prevent me from rating by "the cult of the new", I don't rate anything a "10" unless it has been around at least 10 years and I have played it at least 10 times. I don't like my ratings to change much, so I try to rate based on what I will still feel about a game 10 years from now.
I often use a
system to rate games in Geeklists or blogs:
10 and 9:
My other great love/activity besides games is Sports (outdoor games).

If you have come here because I have added you as a Geekbuddy, I add Geekbuddies for many different reasons: I like your taste in games, you play games with your child(ren) like I do, you write good comments about games so I like to see what you have to say (even if I disagree), I like your posts, I have befriended you, or I also Geekbuddy anyone who has done the same to me (once I notice it).Microbadges:
