Married (since 1994), father of 3 boys. Work in IT for a large, conservative, midwestern state university (as featured in Penthouse Letters
), where I also teach part-time as an adjunct.
Parents/grandparents were Pinochle/Gin/Spades players, and we always had a few traditional family games around the house when I was a kid (Sorry!, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Battleship, Stratego).
Got into D&D in middle school, but didn't really get into boardgames, wargames, and miniatures until my thirties. I still like my "ameritrash", but I'm quite happy to play games like Tikal, Caylus, Carcassone, Catan, and PowerGrid with the right people (meaning non snobs). Gaming for me is a fun pastime, not an exercise in regression analysis. I'm beer and pretzels all the way.
Outside of RPGs, cards, boardgames, and wargames, I enjoy hunting, fishing, playing guitar with my kids and friends, and some sports.
